Knowing that you want to engage the services of a coach can be difficult. Sadly in the UK coaching has not seen the vast upsurge in popularity that it has done in the US in recent years. Maybe it is down to our stereotypical British image of the stiff upper lip or an us against the world mentality but whatever, there seems to be a reluctance to accept that coaching may be a viable solution.
So, when are you ready for coaching?
To some extent this will vary from individual to individual but probably the best way to view the question is in terms of your goals, aspirations, desires or whatever name you give to your possible, future self.
The bottom line is that once you have decided, even loosely on what you want to achieve you are then ready to get started with coaching. For many people this is where they get stuck because they simply do not know what they want, ironic but very true.
In a word, you know when you are ready for coaching because you are looking for CHANGE!
Any good coach will explain that they cannot create your dreams and desires for you, only you can do that. They may be able to help identify, define, refine or rethink your goals but they are inherently yours. Once you have made this crucial decision a great coach can help you in a multitude of ways.
